Sen. Cramer Announces $6 Billion in USDA Crop Disaster Assistance

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND) announced the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has made $6 billion in disaster assistance available for commodity and specialty crop producers affected by severe drought, poor weather, and natural disasters during the 2020 and 2021 crop years through the Emergency Relief Program (ERP). This disaster assistance is funded through last September's Continuing Resolution which Senator Cramer supported.

"North Dakota's farmers have suffered significant hardship in recent years. At a time of immense market uncertainty, soaring input costs, and dramatic supply chain disruptions, not to mention we have a hungry world and looming food shortage, these funds will provide much-needed certainty to help them cover losses caused by events which were out of their control. I urge the U.S. Department of Agriculture to deliver this disaster assistance to producers quickly so farmers have additional financial flexibility during this uncertain time. All affected producers should familiarize themselves with the details of the program and work with their FSA office to receive assistance in a timely manner," said Senator Cramer.

This announcement comes in addition to $750 million in livestock disaster assistance payments through ELRP to ranchers impacted by drought or wildfire announced in April.
